October has provided us with a variety of weather from unseasonably mild to considerably wet at times.
The Gopher Dunes '2011 CMRC Sandstorm Finale' was postponed from October 16 till the 23rd. This was
the first-time in Gopher Dunes history where we rescheduled a CMRC race. But none-the-less, it
turned out to be a wise decision, as the Finale unfolded under sunny skies and it proved to be an
eventful weekend with some new twists and attractions added to the scenario. It was the first time that
we opened up our new alternate track for practice riding on the Saturday prior to the race. Now for
those of you inquiring as to when they can ride the 'new' track -- if you didn't come out that day, then
you missed your chance; as this alternate track is only being used for specific organized events and
will not be open on a regular basis for leisure riding. So far it's been Gopher Dunes 'best kept secret'!
For November the main track, pee-wee track, beginner track and the trails will be open for riding.

Added to the blend of the Sandstorm weekend, we officially opened our newly designed bicycle pump
track as well as our remote control sand track. These 2 new facilities can be used by our riders 'FREE of
charge' during November. It is mandatory that bicycle riders wear helmets and all participants must
sign a Waiver Release. So riders, don't forget to load up your bicycles and your rc cars when you head
down to the Dunes on the weekend!

In addition to the MX & ATV racing on Sunday, the half-time 'Biggest Whip Competition' was truly a highlight
of the day where Kyle Kichler from Simcoe easily snatched the biggest round of applause and won the prize
money awarded by Red Bull.

Hours of operation for the month of November will be every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
(weather permitting) and until the ground freezes or there is an accumulation of snow. This will then shut
us down for the winter.
So for opening hours on those days it will be from 11am to 5pm, with the exception of tomorrow when
we'll be open until 6:30pm and this Saturday we'll be open till 6pm. Then with the clocks going back to
standard time, we will be closing at 5pm for the remainder of our open days in November.

For those of you wanting to make purchases or place orders at the Gopher Dunes Pro Shop, you can call in
advance to 519-842-2781 or Derek at 519-842-1041 and we can arrange an appointment with you. Also for
those of you looking to find the ideal Christmas present, we do have 'Gift Certificates' available.
Email or call us with your wishes, let us know who it's for and for what monetary amount and we'll be delighted to
set you up with a Gopher Dunes Gift Certificate. It's just that simple and makes for a great stocking stuffer!
Certificates can be for annual memberships, daily ride passes, truck registration fees, etc. or call if you want to come shop at our trackside Pro Shop for some of those last minute deals & ideas!

Sandstorm CMRC Finale for this coming Sunday

Things are looking a lot more promising (weather-wise) for this Sunday, October 23, when Gopher Dunes will be hosting the CMRC 2011 Finale MX Race, including 4 quad racing classes & 2 Vintage classes. All details as per our previous e-blasts, which can be found at: www.gopherdunes.com under the NewsFeed from our Homepage.

Slight changes to make note of: no Monster Energy Cup viewing at the Pro Shop, gates lock Saturday evening at 11pm and the deadline for the kids poster contest has been extended until October 23. Don't forget to complete your artwork and drop it off at this weekend at the Pro Shop! Awesome prizes to be won!!

Still happening will be your chance to ride on our 'alternate mx track' on Saturday only from 11am to 4pm (providing the weatherman doesn't err again?) as this track is on heavier soil and located away from the main tracks which are already prepped for Sunday's race and are now closed.

Entrance still from main gates, same rider fees apply and gate admission/camping charges apply for all persons; with gate fee refunds available to those departing by 4:30pm and not returning on Sunday.

Still happening on Saturday will be the SCOTT Sports Bicycle Race at 4:30pm & the Remote Control 'longest jump competition' at 5:30pm.

Still happening on Sunday will be the "Dash for Cash" race around the main track & the Red Bull Biggest Whip Competition during half time.

Red Alert Urgent Update.....Gopher Dunes CMRC Finale Sandstorm MX, Vintage & ATV Racing is post-poned!!

Everything has been post-poned to Sunday, October 23 -- due to an all-day rain on Wednesday, all-night rain on
Thursday with more rain in the forecast for today and all weekend along with high winds gusting up to 50 kph.

All events announced in our previous emails should still be happening, with the exception of the Live ME Cup Supercross
Party....which you can now watch in the comfort of your own home, but keep your bikes loaded for the following weekend!

The tracks have been over-saturated with standing-water, as well as the parking areas and laneways.
Gopher Dunes is closed today and will be open for practice riding this weekend from 11am to 6pm both days on the
main track and pee-wee track, but the trails will be closed (providing ground conditions still allow).

MXP Magazine invites everyone to the CMRC season finale at Gopher
Dunes, in Courtland, Ontario and the second annual “Sandstorm” this
coming weekend. 2011 has been a great season! To help celebrate the
season finale, MXP has some things planned for racers at Gopher Dunes.

Starting on Saturday evening, the good folks at Gopher Dunes will be
showing the Monster Energy Cup race from Las Vegas on their big screen
in the main Pro Shop. Nothing beats getting together for some bench
racing and watching some of the very best racers in this exciting,
never-seen-before format. MXP is going to crank up the excitement and
will be giving away close to $1000 dollars in prizes and swag!

Sunday will be filled with racing for the final time this year. The
second annual “Sandstorm” event is sure to build off the
excitement of last year’s, and will be a great event packed with the
special events and contests. MXP Magazine will feature this year’s
event in the next issue due to hit newsstands and mailboxes at the
beginning of December! Maybe your picture will be featured?!

"There is no hiding the fact I love the Gopher Dunes track. The
Schuster's do such a good job with all their events." said MXP
Magazine’s Editor Ryan Gauld. "The Sandstorm is such a cool event
that attracts a lot of sponsors and top riders; our entire MXP staff
felt they should receive some extensive coverage in our next issue."

The Tillsonburg Indoor Mx Facility is less than 1 month from the Nov. 1st. 2011 Opening Date. Join them this year as they start their 6th season.

The Gopher Dunes CMRC Season Finale Motocross Race is fast approaching and with some exciting additions included, it's shaping up to be the most anticipated Gopher Dunes Amateur Race of the Year!  Lots of exciting things will be happening at this final race on Sunday, October 16, 2011. Read on and take note of some of these highlights and additions for this upcoming weekend event.....

As always, the main track & pee-wee track will be closed on the 3 days prior to the October 16 CMRC Race but our 'new track' location will be open for practice riding on those 3 days only: October 13, 14 & 15.  Here's the chance so many of you have been waiting for -- ride our new track!!   Hours for October 13 & 14: 11am to 7pm & on October 15: 11am to 4pm
Trails will also be open on these 3 days and entrance will be from the main gate.

                GATE ADMISSION: (effective Saturday at 11am)
                $10 per adult
                $7 under 12
                Free under 5

                CAMPING:
                $10 per vehicle

                SATURDAY PRACTICE RIDING FEE:
                $25 per rider

All Sat. practice riders & spectators will get wrist-banded & those departing by 4:30pm on Saturday will be refunded their gate fee. Riders must also register to practice ride at the Pro Shop upon arrival, sign waiver and pay the riding fee.
Gates lock Saturday at midnight & re-open Sunday at 6:30am.

• racers will receive a wristband prior to exiting the registration trailer
• new racers be prepared to change your bike race # which must be displayed on your jersey/chest protector
• as well as on the front and both sides of your bike and with proper colours.
• Incorrect #'s or missing #'s may cause the rider to be scored improperly or disqualified!

A vintage display ~ show and shine (roaches welcome too) will take place in the vintage “pits” by the peewee track. Bring your bikes, old gear, memorabilia and set up amongst the display. Great networking for parts, repair tips, race info and business card exchange; together with plenty of bench racing and memory sharing of events far past.

A race on the peewee track ~ for vintage (1974 and older) and post vintage (1975-84) will take place within the schedule of the Junior riders – two motos for each class. Come out and bang bars and see if your bike is worthy of Frank Schuster’s awesome small track. Awards for static display bikes include coolest bike, most original, etc. so bring ‘em out.

Enjoy modern racing from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the big track.

GoPHER DUNES Hours of Operation: we remain open for leisure track and trail riding daily in October, excluding CMRC Race Day and closed on Monday's: October 17, 24 & 31.
In November we will remain open on weekends only from 11am to 5pm, weather permitting and until ground freeze-up or an accummulation of snow. Then closed for the winter to hibernate.
With the weather turning a little cooler and wetter, for those accustomed to riding on the sandy tracks at the Dunes; they know that this loamy soil is very water-absorbent and the additional moisture helps to improve the riding conditions.

Gopher Dunes is open this week through to Saturday, September 24 for leisure
riding. On Sunday, September 25 we have scheduled in a TVR Club Race. This
race is open to all TVR & CMRC members. For more details go to: www.tvrmx.com On Sunday only the trails will be open for recreational riding.

Midweek we remain open from 11am to 7:30pm and on Saturday we close at 6pm.

There's still time to book in your training session with our Suzuki bike and ATV rentals
available. Fall is the perfect time to learn how to ride a bike or quad or work on improving
your skills....the temperatures are more comfortable and there's lots of availability mid-week.
Weekend sessions are possible but time and space is more limited. Call 519-842-2781

Our September 11 Poker Run attracted 219 anxious participants in this non-competitive
dirt bike and quad riding event. Everyone had a chance to try their luck at drawing one of
the top poker hands and win a trophy plus 200 more prizes were awarded to all that participated!
It wasn't long after the riding got underway that the skies darkened and a thunder storm moved
in with heavy rains. We moved ahead our trophy presentation and then as the storm passed the
energetic riders could once again hit the track and trails till 6pm in rounding off an exciting day!

On Sunday, September 18 we hosted our Fall 4x4 MudFest and we couldn't have asked for more
perfect weather conditions! This crowd-pleasing event drew over 1100 spectators that came to
watch a colourful spectrum of odd and amazing 4x4 vehicles along with some home-built
contraptions as they all manoeuvred their way through the mud pits, over the rock obstacles
and wound their way through the trails. All 227 vehicles and the majority of their drivers came
in clean but finished off the day totally caked with gopher mud!!! It truly allowed for some amazing
Kodak moments! For anyone that captured some good shots or videos of this mud-infested
event, please send them along to share on our website.

Make way for the Gopher Dunes 'SandStorm' to hit on October 16th. This CMRC motocross race

Newmarket, ON: The RAM Tow and Haul Tour is offering a chance for Show Attendees to test drive the new RAM at the Toronto International Snowmobile, ATV & Powersports Show from October 14th - 16th, 2011. Taking place at the Toronto International Centre, the show is open to the public; Friday October 14th 1:00pm to 9:00pm, Saturday October 15th 10:00am – 7:00pm, Sunday October 18th 10:00am – 5:00pm.
RAM is proud to showcase their entire line-up during the show, including the RAM 1500, 2500 and 3500. The Toronto International Snowmobile, ATV & Powersports Show is a key stop along the RAM Tow and Haul’s nationwide tour, targeting avid truck enthusiasts, families, as well as those with basic truck knowledge. Along with the full RAM line-up, Ram is also giving attendees the chance to try the new RAM inflatable Tow and Haul game to test out what kind of “RAM” you are and to win some fabulous prizes.

TVR Club Race at Gopher Dunes on Sunday, September 25...(pssssst...it's Frank's birthday;-)

TVR is hosting a Club Race here at the Dunes this Sunday, September 25. Sign-in begins at 8:30am. This race is for TVR Members ONLY and there are NO Day Passes available. CMRC Members are welcome to race, but they MUST purchase a TVR Membership. Top-up cost for a membership is $65 plus the flagger fee of $30 (no additional insurance costs). Regular TVR entry fees apply and a new membership is valid until March 1, 2012. There are no gate fees for racers or spectators to attend a TVR Race.

Overnight camping is allowed at $10 per vehicle. No ground campfires allowed. Any fires must be in a raised firepit ONLY.

The Pro Shop will be open with 'daily race specials' plus food and refreshments will be served at the Wiseco Pavilion.

Gopher Dunes is open this Thursday, Friday and Saturday for recreational track and trail riding. On Sunday only the trails will be open for public riding. For more details go to: www.gopherdunes.com
