So far Gopher Dunes has already wrapped up a busy line-up of spring events with Season Opener Races for both CMRC & TVR, and we just hosted a SCR Club Race on Sunday; plus we've had a couple MX Group Training Sessions in April and then our ever-popular Spring 4x4 MudFest which attracted over 2,500 spectators and brought out over 400 trucks and their anxious drivers wanting to challenge their 4x4 mud-wielding abilities. A fun day was had by all, and for those that don't really know what goes on at such an event, just visit youtube.com and search out Gopher Dunes Mudfest. KTM Canada was at Gopher Dunes on May 5th, as one of their cross-Canada stops for their Test Ride Days and once again we welcomed the presence of Red Bull.

Gopher Dunes is the relocation site for this Saturday's TVR Club Race....that's May 12th. So on Saturday only the trails will be open for public riding. We are open today and tomorrow until 8pm for leisure riding on the main track, peewee track and trails, and then again on Mother's Day Sunday from 11am to 6pm.

Now for those interested in learning to ride a dirt bike or quad, or want to increase their MX sand racing skills, we are now taking reservations for private, semi-private, small group and family training sessions. You can bring out your own machines for training, or rent one of our 2012 HONDA bikes or quads. These lessons can be arranged on a weekday from Tuesday through Friday and for any preferred number of hours. Weekend availability is limited. We DO NOT rent out our units for personal leisure riding. They are solely assigned for training purposes and guided trail riding tours or supervised track riding!

A Poker Run is very similar to a practice ride day with some of the differences being an additional $5 to enter per rider, no riding allowed prior to the 12 noon Riders Meeting, and all participants are pretty much guaranteed to win one of our many amazing draw prizes or your chance to win a trophy if you draw one of the top 20 best poker hands! All riders on this day must enter as a Poker Run participant.

This organized 'fun day' is being hosted in conjunction withHully Gully -- the Ultimate Toy Store of London.   See them at the Dunes on May 27....more Poker Run details are outlined further below....

With a very successful ATV & UTV Festival in 2011, we will once again be hosting a similar event on Sunday, June 24th. 2012.

ATTENTION:  to all our 4x4 enthusiasts -- both sport and utility Quads PLUS for this one and only chance in 2012, we welcome ALL Utility & Side-by-Side vehicles, such as Gators, Rzrs, Bobcats, Argo's, Kawasaki Teryx, Prowler's, Rhino's, Commander's, HONDA Big Red's, etc. plus go-carts which can all participate in this event! Finally we have an event just for you and it'll be the only time this year... .so mark it on your calendar and spread the word to all your side-by-side fanatics --- this will be your one & only chance to ride at the Dunes!
A variety of ATV & UTV events and competitions will be organized on June 24th. such as mx track racing, an obstacross, mudbog races, trail rides, demo rides and more.... We are also inviting dealers and manufacturers to get involved and book a spot for a static and/or demo display. Water sport activities are also available.

Show up early if you don't want to stand in a long line & also to hear all the important  information and details that are announced at the 12 noon riders meeting.
For those that are not present for this meeting, you will need to read the displayed Rules & Regulations prior to riding!!!!

Allparticipants will first be required to fill out a form with complete mailing & email address. This helps to speed up registration.  All participants must also sign our Waiver Release Form at Registration.
For Minors under 18: Please help us speed up the sign-in process...
It is mandatory that Minors fill out the Parental Consent  Waiver for Parental.pdf & Minor Waiver Release  Waiver for Minors.pdf forms before their first ride at Gopher Dunes in 2012. If you have not yet completed this in its entirety it will need to be done now! Unless you plan on bringing along both parents to the Poker Run, you will need to complete these forms at home.  Download and print them, read them, get them signed as per instructions below and bring them along. Without these forms you can be denied riding at the Dunes, so get 'er done NOW!! Even if both of your parents will be accompanying you, by completing these forms in advance will definitely speed up the sign-in process. Thank you!
Details on completion of both forms:
Waiver for Parental.pdf This Waiver requires the Minors (anyone under age 18) full name printed in Line 1 and then BOTH parents names need to be signed & printed at the bottom, one below the other. This Waiver must be completed once per year as we are required to keep them on file. Please read and understand what the Waiver outlines, and to save time, do this in the comfort of your home, prior to arriving at Gopher Dunes Inc.  Waiver for Minors.pdf This Waiver must be read and signed by the Minor (under 18). He/she must enter their age on Line 5.   The Minor then must sign and print their name at the bottom and one parent can sign as a Witness.
The Parental Consent & Minor Waiver Release forms are legal documents and it is mandatory that Gopher Dunes Inc. has these on file for 2012. The completion of these 2 forms in their entirety are required to be done once a year, and they must be done prior to your first time riding at Gopher Dunes in 2012.  NOTE for MINORS under 18: No completed forms = No ride at Gopher Dunes Inc.
Riders must read and abide to all the Rules & Regulations and be aware of what they are signing as we assume no responsibility whatsoever for any loss, injury or damages caused while on the property at anytime -- whether intentional or not!
Overnight camping is allowed at a fee of $15 per vehicle, and you must inform us upon arrival that you will be camping over. Campfires are allowed but you must provide your own raised fire-pit. Dogs are allowed, they must be kept on leashes.

Dunes Update on April 20....as Spring 4x4 MudFest is fast approaching!!!!!

Overall, the month of April has been bringing us some decent weather, a bit of a yo-yo with the temperatures plus things have been getting pretty dry; although nothing to complain about compared to last year's totally drenched spring!

April 15 saw the Season Opener Amateur National Qualifier CMRC Motocross Races plus ATV Racing unfold at the Dunes. Over 110 motor-homes and trailers pulled in Saturday night traveling from as far away as Michigan to Northern Ontario and everywhere in-between. Lots of anxious riders were ready to get another season underway! Early registration from 7 to 9pm on Saturday accumulated over 260 entries with another 300+ entries registering Sunday morning when sign-in started at 6:30am. With over 1150 people coming through the gates, we were blessed with extremely mild weather although some rain showers found their way here during the late morning hours. And as Season Opener's usually bring, there were some pretty wicked wipe-outs with some riders starting fresh into a new season, maybe a little out-of-shape and giving it their all to qualify, only to crash and be hauled away in an ambulance. Not what we like to see, and hopefully they'll mend quickly to move onto the next round?! Nonetheless, it turned out to be a successful Opener, we welcomed back the quad racers and wish all the CMRC racers a safe and accomplished 2012 Season.

Gopher Dunes is now on track with its' regular opening hours, which is pretty much daily,
except closed on Monday's (although open if it's a stat day) and also check our website calendar for event dates, because we are then also generally closed to leisure riders.

As for this weekend, we are hosting the 50cc to 65cc Group Training Session on Saturday which will be held at our alternate track, and the main track, peewee track and trails remain open from 11am to 6pm tomorrow for practice/leisure riding.

On Sunday, April 22 the Thames Valley Riders are hosting their Season Opener Race here at the Dunes and ONLY the trails will be open to the public that day from 11am to 5pm.

We will be open next week from Tuesday through Friday for track and trail riding from 11am to 7:30pm and next Saturday till 6pm. All tracks and trails will be CLOSED on Sunday, April 29, as Gopher Dunes will be hosting their annual Spring 4x4 MudFest. To inform all our practice riders who frequent our facility....now is the time to purchase your 2012 Gopher Dunes Membership!  It entitles the member to unlimited practice riding, free gate admissions, Pro Shop discounts and a chance to win a $500 Shopping Spree at the GD ProShop, or a Matrix bike stand or a pair of Scott goggles? Cost is $450 plus HST.
Draw will take place on April 30.

Also for any enthusiasts wanting to learn how to ride a dirt bike or quad, just give us a call. We offer private, semi-private, small group and family training sessions. We can train you on your own machine, or rent one of our HONDA bike or quads along with full riding gear. Now for details on our MudFest....

This is our 18th Annual Spring 4x4 MUDFEST that is taking place on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at GoPHER DUNES. This event is open to 4x4 trucks and jeeps ONLY!   Absolutely no ATV's or bikes are allowed (with the exception of security staff).

Once again enthusiasts will enter the property at 439 - 2nd Con STR which is the next road just south of the Hwy 59 Gopher Dunes entrance. Gates open at 8am and truck registration runs until 12 noon followed by a mandatory Drivers' Meeting at 12:15pm.
Mud-run begins at 12:30pm & all trucks must be registered prior to the drivers' meeting for which all drivers must be in attendance.

GATE ADMISSION: $15.00 per adult (including drivers) & $10.00 for children up to age 13 & $5.00 for pre-schoolers up to age 4

A Waiver Release must be signed by all participants, passengers and spectators entering the property. When signing a wavier, the individual states that he/she has read and is aware of the entire content of the Release & Waiver of Liability & Indemnity Agreement (which can also be read on our websitewww.gopherdunes.com ). They are assuming full responsibility for their actions and have resigned themselves from holding any individual or the premises itself responsible in any way. Anyone not willing to abide by the rules and clauses of this waiver, must inform us of such, and they will be forbidden to enter the premises. The event will be supervised by Police Officers & Security Staff who can and will charge accordingly those disobeying the rules, causing disturbances, drinking alcohol outside of the designated beer tent area, or breaking the law in any way whatsoever!

TRUCK ENTRY FEE: $30.00 per vehicle (must have valid drivers' licence)
ADDITIONAL DRIVER FEE: $15.00 (for an already registered vehicle)
ENTRY FORMS can be downloaded & printed off our website --- entries are accepted only on day of the event!
Seatbelts are mandatory for drivers and any passengers, plus helmets are strongly recommended for those in open vehicles.

Refreshments & food will be available at this new location!
The Courtland Firefighters will once again set up Beer Tents serving beverages to non-drivers.
Alcohol can only be consumed in the licenced fenced-off areas. No Glass Containers Allowed on Property! Absolutely NO Trunk Bars!!! Age of Majority ID must be shown, when requested. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times!  No dogs allowed on property for this event. No overnight camping allowed the night prior!

The mud pits will be well-saturated and ready for action!! Over the past few years we have continued to develop the new mudbog area just for the trucks & jeeps. This is a non-competitive event where the 4-wheel drive vehicles will have an opportunity to challenge their mud-slingin' abilities by maneuvering through various mud pits, some designed for the small-tire trucks and some for the big-tire trucks; plus there will be a mogul section, rock climbing pile and the marked trail section.

Let me tell ya, the only way to experience this unique adventure is to come out on the 29th. and do 'er in the mud, mud & more mud or just come to see 'er get done!!!For anyone keen on seeing some mud-slingin' red-neck dirt-power kinda' fun --- this is an event you won't want to miss!! We don't aim to please everybody -- we just aim to please the best of 'em!!! Bring your lawn chair, boots plus rain gear and your camera for a good shoot on a real 'hoot of a day'! Rain or shine, the show will go on!!

Update Blast from the Dunes..April 11, 2012

Gopher Dunes is gearing up for this weekend's CMRC ANQ Opener Motocross & ATV Race to unfold on Sunday, April 15.
We've just finished off a very busy Easter Weekend with many riders out over the 4 days, including the CMRC Sanctioned Ride Day on the 8th.   Today was the last day that the Main Track & Pee-Wee Track were open for practice riding. On Thursday, April 12 & Friday, April 13 we are inviting riders to come out and have a chance to practice ride on our 'new alternate west track'.   Okay riders this is your chance to experience something that many of you have been waiting for -- an opportunity to ride our new track! It will be used for some of our smaller club races this season; but it will not be open on a regular basis for riding. Trail 1 & 2 are also open till Friday.
On Saturday, April 14 the track & trails will be closed and prepped for Sunday's CMRC Opener! On Saturday we are hosting our Motocross Group Training Session for riders on 85cc to 450cc dirt bikes. Instructors will be Tyler Medaglia and Derek Schuster. If you haven't signed up yet, and are thinking about it, call or email now, as there are only 2 spots left!
The Group Training Session for 50cc to 65cc will be on April 21.
We are also taking bookings for private, semi-private and family safety & beginner training sessions plus advanced mx riding lessons. Bike, quad and gear rentals are also available....we're ready to suit you up and train just about anyone willing to give it a try....right from the first-timers to the Pro's ready for some tips on sand racing!!

GoPHER DUNES is hosting the CMRC Season Opener ANQ Motocross & ATV Races on Sunday, April 15, 2012. This is an excellent spectator event and we invite all race enthusiasts to come out and watch the hi-flyin' action!! Food will be available at the Wiseco Pavilion. Racing begins at 9:30am on Sunday!

Gates open Saturday from 4pm to 11pm. Gates open Sunday at 6am.
NOTE: Gates will be locked after 11pm on Saturday (for untimely delays, we recommend you park alongside Con. 2 STR just south of the entrance turn right)

GATE FEE: $10 per adult
                     $7 under 12
                     Free under 5
CAMPING:   $15 per vehicle

RACE ENTRY FEE: $30 for one class
                               $30 for second class
                               $15 for third class

VERY IMPORTANT to have this information if you want to race on Sunday!! It is highly recommended that you purchase your 2012 licence online by visiting: www.cmrcracing.com as then you will be able to print your own receipt and card.
Race numbers will not be assigned on race date.....so it is important that you get this
confirmed in advance!

Licences will be sold on Sunday at $140, but it will be a time-consuming ordeal & #'s will not be assigned! We suggest that you arrive promptly at 6:30am if you still need to purchase your 2012 licence.
Day Passes are not available.

All registered racers must have their assigned CMRC # on their jersey/chest protector as well as on the front and both sides of their bike and with proper colours. Numbers can be purchased at the Gopher Dunes Pro Shop (while supplies last).
Incorrect #'s or missing #'s may cause the rider to be scored improperly or disqualified completely!! For rules, please visit www.cmrcracing.com

MINORS under 18 will have to complete the CMRC 2012 Parental Consent & Minor Waiver Release Forms with copies available at sign-in. This means you will need at least one parent to accompany you at time of registration.   If you have already completed this form at the CMRC Ride Day this past Sunday, you will need to show your '2012 Card' for authorization.

April 5 Update from Gopher Dunes....

We're all enjoying this great weather we've had for the past month and has allowed us to open up the track much earlier than normal. The exciting news now is that Trail #1 & Trail #2 will be opening on Good Friday, April 6. The track and trails will also be open for public riding on Saturday and Easter Monday as well.
Hours on Friday and Saturday will be from 11am to 6pm and on Monday, April 9 from 11am to 5pm.

On Easter Sunday, April 8, Gopher Dunes will be hosting the CMRC Test & Tune Ride Day. This is a sanctioned Motocross Practice Day for CMRC Members ONLY! CMRC staff will be on-site to sell the new 2012 licences at a fee of $140. Numbers will not be assigned that day but they will be able to assist you with any questions you may have.

Minors will have to complete the CMRC Parental Consent & Minor Waiver Release forms (NOTE: these forms ARE NOT the same as the Gopher Dunes Parental/Minor forms). Upon completion the member under age 18 will receive a Minor Card which will need to be shown at all future 2012 CMRC sanctioned races at all Ontario tracks, and will waive them from having to complete the Forms again.

Sign-in begins at 9am Riding is from 10am to 5pm
CMRC Practice Fee is $30 + tax

MX Bikes & Sport Quads are welcome! By mid-day all riders will be divided into classes for practice heats. This will be your last chance to get in some competitive practice time before the CMRC Opener on Sunday, April 15 to be hosted at Gopher Dunes.

Now for those racers wanting to get in some top-notch motocross skills training, we've got the ideal opportunity to offer you!!

Gopher Dunes is hosting 2 Motocross Group Training Seminars....
On Saturday, April 14 the session will be for 85cc to 450cc riders. And Saturday, April 21 is the date set for 50cc to 65cc riders. Classes will run from 10am to 5pm at a cost of $160 per student plus tax. All registered students will receive a GDR gift package.

Our head instructors for the schools will be Derek Schuster and our 2-time CMRC National Champ, Tyler Medaglia!!
Advanced instruction will include: stretching, balance, bike set-up, race preparation, body positioning, braking, cornering, jumps, whoops and starts plus ideal techniques for racing in sand. The students will be divided according to bike size and levels of experience. The more primary instruction will cover a lot of the basics: warm-up, bike controls, starting, steering, stopping, balance, race form & techniques and work on building the riders confidence and having control of their bike. Space is filling up fast, so don't delay and sign-up today!

          The "GoPHER DUNES 4x4 MUD FEST" is one of our most popular attractions has come to be known as one of the biggest off-road truck events of its sort in the country!
          This event is open to 4x4 trucks & jeeps only!
          We are using the new entrance (just 350 feet further west off the 2nd Concession), with the changed layout of new pits and parking area.
This is a non-competitive event where the 4-wheel drive vehicles will have an opportunity to challenge their mud-slinging abilities by manoeuvring through various mud pits, over rock climbing obstacles and through a section of trails.

Gates open at 8:00am on Sunday, April 29th.   No overnight camping allowed.
Truck registration is from 8m to 12:15pm followed by a mandatory drivers' meeting.
MUD-RUN begins at 12:30pm & all trucks must be registered prior to the drivers' meeting for which all drivers must be in attendance.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times!  No dogs allowed on property for this event.
No overnight camping allowed the night prior!

For anyone keen on seeing some mud-slingin' red-neck dirt-power kinda' fun --- this is an event you won't want to miss!! We don't aim to please everybody -- we just aim to please the best of 'em!!!
Bring your lawn chair, boots plus rain gear and your camera for a good shoot on a real 'hoot of a day'! Rain or shine, the show must go on!! Let me tell ya, the only way to experience this unique adventure is to come out on April 29 and do 'er in the mud, mud & more mud!!!
