We've endured a cold, wet spring and a hot, humid summer; and finally now the weather has become very favourable for the off-road rider and racing enthusiasts!

August has been a very busy month for leisure riders coming out to practice ride on our track and trails.  Plus we've hosted many private and semi-private training sessions for beginner and advanced riders wanting to improve their off-road sand riding skills....and the feedback has been extremely positive!   We will continue to hold lessons right into the fall....so call or email us now, if you are still interested in signing up?! 

 

Gopher Dunes hosted its' first-ever WEC World Enduro Cross Country Race on August 27, and it turned out to be a very competitive and successful event!  Round 5 of the 2011 Wiesner Insurance WEC Championship had 125 competitors ready to test their physical stamina by conquering the motocross track, 12 km. of trails plus an obstacle course over a continuous 2-hour racing span.  And what unfaltering endurance these racers needed to complete the course!!!

Update to our mud-bogging buddies....released by the Walton Raceway....they have cancelled their September 3 & 4 Mudbog Event scheduled for the Walton Raceway.  Due to their close proximity to Goderich and the severe storms and heavy rains that have savaged that area, they have cancelled their event for this weekend.  But don't despair, the Gopher Dunes Fall MudFest scheduled for September 18 is still on the agenda.  

Please spread the word, as this fall there will not be any flyers mailed out by Canada Post announcing our September/October events.  All updates are being posted on our website:  www.gopherdunes.com  and are being emailed to our entire e-enthusiast list.  So please, if you can spread the word to your non-internet friends, and for those that wish to be added to our update list.....please forward your e-address to:  info@gopherdunes.com

 

For our September hours of operation, you can access the calendar from our website.  This week and including the holiday weekend we are open daily for leisure riding from 11am to 8pm on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday and then from 11am to 6pm on Saturday & Labour Day Monday.  On Sunday, September 4th. we are hosting a TVR Club Race and the tracks will both be closed to leisure riding.  We invite trail riders out on Sunday....but they will need to stick to the trails ONLY!

Now bringing you to our next ever-popular non-competitive event coming up on Sunday, September 11 is our fall Poker Run.  No memberships are required for this fun event.  All enthusiasts with a dirt bike or quad, or even an ancient 3-wheel trike, are welcome to participate!   The odds of winning one of our amazing poker run prizes are in your favour as it's all in the 'luck of the draw'.   A 'hard luck' award is even given out to the rider with the most mechanical problems.  Join in a fun afternoon of riding and see how easy it is to win!!  More details below....

    Sign-in starts at 9am -- Riders Mtg. at 12 noon

    Run begins thereafter -- absolutely NO RIDING PRIOR!

    Show up early if you don't want to stand in a long line & also to hear all the important information and details that are relayed at the 12 noon riders meeting.

    For those that are not present for this meeting, you will be made to read the displayed Rules & Regulations prior to riding!!!! 

ENTRY FEE:  $30.00 per rider  ** open for bikes, trikes & quads **

 

All participants will first be required to fill out a form with complete mailing address.  This helps to speed up registration.  All participants must also sign our Waiver Release Form at Registration.

 

For Minors under 18:  Please help us speed up the sign-in process...

It is mandatory that Minors fill out the Parental Consent  Waiver for Parental.pdf  & Minor Waiver Release  Waiver for Minors.pdf  forms before their first ride at Gopher Dunes in 2011.  If you have not yet completed this in its entirety it will need to be done now!  Unless you plan on bringing along both parents to the Poker Run, you will need to complete these forms at home.  Download and print them, read them, get them signed as per instructions below and bring them along.  Without these forms you can be denied riding at the Dunes, so get 'er done NOW!!  Even if both of your parents will be accompanying you, by completing these forms in advance will definitely speed up the sign-in process.  Thank you!

 

Details on completion of both forms:

Waiver for Parental.pdf  This Waiver requires the Minors (anyone under age 18) full name printed in Line 1 and then BOTH parents names need to be signed & printed at the bottom, one below the other.  This Waiver must be completed once per year as we are required to keep them on file.  Please read and understand what the Waiver outlines, and to save time, do this in the comfort of your home, prior to arriving at Gopher Dunes Inc.  If the parents are divorced, they can each sign this form separately and bring both along.  If there is sole custody or one parent is deceased, notate this at the bottom and then a single signature is sufficient. 

Waiver for Minors.pdf  This Waiver must be read and signed by the Minor (under 18).  He/she must enter their age on Line 5.   The Minor then must sign and print their name at the bottom and one parent can sign as a Witness.

The Parental Consent & Minor Waiver Release forms are legal documents and it is mandatory that Gopher Dunes Inc. has these on file for 2011.  The completion of these 2 forms in their entirety are required to be done once a year, and they must be done prior to your first time riding at Gopher Dunes in 2011.
NOTE for MINORS under 18:  No completed forms = No ride at Gopher Dunes Inc. 

Riders must read and abide to all the Rules & Regulations and be aware of what they are signing as we assume no responsibility whatsoever for any loss, injury or damages caused while on the property at anytime -- whether intentional or not!

Overnight camping is allowed at a fee of $10 per vehicle, and you must inform us upon arrival that you will be camping over.  Ground campfires are not allowed.  Only raised pits or BBQ's are allowed.  Dogs are allowed, they must be kept on leashes at all times.
